Look at how far you’ve come! I can admit when I was first introduced to camouflage the thought of ridiculousness and mockery of a bunch of army go hards that had sold their souls to the devil himself because they joined the army, involuntarily ran its short course through my mind. Honestly, the only occurrences where I would see those different shaded greens, browns and blacks were on the television show Mash, which was televised more frequent than any child between the ages of five to ten would have liked to see. A decade plus later and an incalculable amount of notches turned up on the steez, society and myself included, have conformed to be heavy rockers of the fatigue, in every shape, form and style of fashion. Most street wear brands now days all have one similarity in their designs, camo patterns. Brands like 10 Deep, Bellfield, LDRS, Levi, and Obey just to name a few, all have vast artillery in there army bunker of shorts, tees, belts, button downs, jackets, and hats all equipped with that greezy pattern we love so much with these brands but who broke the mold for these brands. What brands can we say really outdid that pattern and innovated different styles with traditional and untraditional camouflage patterns? I solely give accreditation to the Bapster and Milo creators in the game. Years and years ago, A Bathing Ape was given birth by Tokyo fashion designer Nigo, and has now developed into an multi-million dollar brand with store locations dipped and situated comfortably in Asia, Europe, and America. Sure Bape isn’t as blazing hot as it was a half decade ago, but trust me, you don’t maintain stores worldwide with no source of internal and external revenue coming in. “Yall must have forgot!” in my Roy Jones, Jr. voice from that single we all wish we had forgot, after an ineffectively and weak attempt of a visual representation of the song back in the day, that “Bathing Ape hoodies and Bathing tennis shoes” use to be in every rappers lyrics, including Wayne. It was also in the closets of teens & adults and on the hoods & feet of my fellow high school classmates. This is no pretentious attempt to throw shade on those other brands and highlight Bape but to merely pay homage to one of the best to do it. We’ll see how many biters take the bate after they read this or see my future Bape purchases, in order to say they took initiative to bring em back. Oh well, GoodLuck!

The Four Pins Guide To Having The Dankest 4/20 Ever, Brah

The Four Pins Guide To Having The Dankest 4/20 Ever, Brah:
Four-Pins take on the 4/20 holiday, I didn’t participate but if I did, this would be an ideal regimen for the day…

karmaloop:

Something difficult for me to ascertain and discuss in the facet of writing has always been spirituality and the topic of God. Ever since i was enrolled in college, it seemed as though i was beguiled and coerced into believing that writing about religion and your beliefs were like stepping into the pacific ocean infested with sharks, while having a gash on your foot-you just DON’T do it. Now of course there are exceptions to these protocols and ethics of writing but generally speaking your news editor or journalism professor is not going to be gung ho about you writing a piece about Jesus and his Apostles. But why is that? Spirituality, love, faith and relationships are really what life is all about. We all posses talents but theoretically speaking are they really ours? God is the creator of all things, so when we were concocted, all of our “assets” were actually gifts. I perceive these gifts as acquisitions solely given for others to learn and appreciate the values a vast cohort of people can bring. As humans and creatures controlled by our flesh, we think naively and egotistically. I would indubitably classify the human race as the most self-centered animal on the planet. We over use an innumerable amount of are resources, including the ones that aren’t replenish-able. Although we all succumb to the materialism of the world, maybe we should begin to interpret life in a different manner. Appreciate and cherish the things we have and cultivate our talents, gifts, blessings, acquisitions or whatever you so choose to call them-but hone in on them and engage in whatever that facet is. Do and pursue what you love. Then share it with the world. Life is a beautiful <strike>b-word</strike>.

Concluding a week of traveling, meeting great established people, and doing an activity I love effortlessly that can correlate with generating revenue; i deduced that my life was not meant to be ordinary or drudging in any shape, form or fashion. Not in a he’s lazy, this guy is perversive and incapable of doing hard work type of way. More so i don’t think i am built to work an ordinary job where tasks are routine and creativity along with expression is minimal or depleted all together. Without some form of catharsis my being is useless. Everyone has a calling and have something they are meant to do. Traveling, embarking on life adventures and discerning my surroundings is where my heart is. Expressing all of those thing simultaneously through writing, art, and photography. i just receive a thrill out of life experiences and promoting positivity. Being able to earn a living only makes it a plus but even if there was little to no money involved i would be complacent with my situation-as long as i could afford my equipment and be a tidbit fashionable while doing it. God controls all things 🙏✌

Am I a lame sneakerhead?

Of course the answer NO rushes to my head, and then the insecurity consumes my thoughts momentarily. I right the click the mouse on my mac book and begin reading the the The 10 signs you’re a LAME sneakerhead, promulgated by Complex a while back. They all were conveyed in front of me as followed.

10. You cry publicly when you miss out on releases

9. You say “I need those” for every hype release

8. You tell everyone how much of “Sneakerhead” you are

7. You talk about the good ole days, in other words, when your mom bought your kicks

6. You only know sneakers by their nicknames

5. You only wear one brand of sneakers

4. You only think a sneaker is cool after a celebrity co-signs it

3. The only place you talk about sneakers to people is on the internet

2. You only wear shoes to post a photo of them on social media

and last…

1. You cant admit to being guilty of at least one thing on this list

*laughs* So after reading #1 you probably removed the beads of sweat from your forehead, following the long sigh of relief just as I did.

While I can admit to #9 and #10 under the circumstance of being asked “did I purchase a release?”, no sneakerhead is lame in my opinion. They all share one common love and that is a passion for kicks. Does that mean you’re a lame? NO! But when you do brag about it, give your kicks nicknames, and or wear items only because a celebrity wears them, red flags should be thrown and the conviction of being suspect can be appropriately anointed.

So which are you?

The Financial Gap: Prt I - By Kenneth Dixon

Honestly it’s hard to find a beginning for this topic. It has been discussed and debated for so long the frequency at which articles, photographs, or any mediums pertaining to the issue of inequity of opportunity and wealth of the poor compared to the rich could be, if it hasn’t already been, a trending topic on twitter. Though the lack of inactivity of disparity issues can be thought of as far from nonexistent, no clear cut solution has derived from any of the attention or disturbances conveyed through the media for the public to view.

There is a system in place, more conducive for the wealthier American’s lifestyle that mainly allocates taxes on a merit and aptitude based. This basically means the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor. Figuratively speaking, last year an 11 percent tax was paid by a multimillionaire, whom I will keep anonymous, according to GQ’s Surprising Truths About Income Inequality in America. On the other hand, there is another millionaire within this same very article who pays 35 percent in taxes. The difference between the two is their beliefs. The individual who pays the lesser amount in taxes believes that the system is “nonsense”, giving the rich the accreditation of supplying jobs and being the most intellectual when realistically there are little jobs available for Americans–so how and who are these “jobs” being dispersed to? The answer is the rich of course. This millionaire is nothing like the person who pays 35 percent. The recognition for some of the jobs that are created should go to the middle class in his opinion. He even says that he feels “awful” about only paying 11 percent in taxes. This makes me ponder, does he really? With his co-authored book: The Gardens of Democracy, attempts at convincing/persuading people the system is in dire need of an adjustment are his efforts towards justice towards these inequities. So maybe all rich guys aren’t as bad as the media portrays them to be. On the contrary the other millionaire who pays a “whopping” 35 percent, is particular about public interactions and negates interviews but is willing to partake in an interview with GQ’s Jon Ronson on the premise of the importance of the income disparity in America. His life consists of “taking care of business”, which consists of ……….

Photographed by Kenneth Dixon

Photographed by Kenneth Dixon

The Rain:

Smacking the pane of your window

I get louder the harder the wind blows

But what blows, is the thoughts that surface as you begin to fall

My thoughts began to overflow, broken hearts reclaim their old possession and yet I still get appalled.

What once was yours is no longer your home

And after many sunsets over the years my emotions have grown

I’m nearly on the brink of, destruction, or relapse.

Perhaps I just need rehab, for this heart for women who were thinking they’re smart, and my dumbass for letting myself get caught.

All because of you my mind has began to wonder

All from a wet droplet that takes form in abundance,

While Lying in my bed just listening ….. aw shit there goes the thunder.

One of my favorites from Darius

I call it uh, “A Blues For Nina”

Say baby, can I be your slave
I’ve got to admit girl, you’re the shit girl
And I’m diggin’ you like a grave
Now do they call you daughter to the spinnin post, or
Or maybe Queen of 2,000 moons
Sister to the distant, yet risin’ star
Is your name Yimmy-Ya
Oh hell nah, it’s got to be Oshun
Ooo, is that a smile me put on your face child
Wide as a field of Jasmine and Glover
Talk that talk honey, walk that walk money
Hound legs that’ll spank Jehovah
Shit, who am I?
It’s not important
But they call me Brother to the Night
And right now
I’m the blues in your left thigh
Tryin to become the funk in your right

Who am I?
I’ll be whoever you say
But right now, I’m the sight raped hunter
Blindly pursuing you as my prey
And I just wanna give you injections, of sublime erections
And get you to dance to my rhythm
Make you dream archaetypes, of black angels in flight
Upon wings, of distorted, contorted, metaphoric jism
Come on slim
Fuck yo’ man, I ain’t worried about him
It’s you who I wanna step to my scene
Cause rather than deal with the fallacy
Of this dry ass reality
I rather dance and romance your sweet ass, in a wet dream
Who am I?
Well they all call me Brother to the Night
And right now, I’m the blues in your left thigh
Trying to become the funk in your right
Is that alright
